What about mockups? Are you really ‘designing’ the whole thing without any clear way to go? Photoshop is much quicker at building a rough idea on how you want the general site to look like. Adjusting colours, placing graphics, looking at how ad banners would look like. That’s all important. Design is not the same as coding.

I agree with you that what you send to the client should be a proper coded website, especially given the amount of javascript and css being used these days.

That said, I start my designs on the whiteboard.

And what is this bull about Photoshop crashing? I’ve had an FTP client crash on me midway while editing a remote CSS file, losing all my work. Jesus saves. Merry Christmas.
