Great article – and a welcome return for 24ways. I’ve been meaning to give RGBA a workout ever since reading Dan Cederholm’s latest book, and this might just be the kick up the backside I need!
I won’t be giving IE users any hacky workarounds, though. Quite apart from the extra unnecessary effort, we’ve got to stop giving users excuses to stick with IE6. Sorry, but if you’re using IE6, you don’t get the full set of effects supported by modern browsers, even if it’s technically possible by jumping through flaming hoops.
We need to keep pushing the message that not every website can, should, or does look the same for every visitor.
