In addition to Drews checklist I think that the communication itself is very important.
If the developer does only take the design as it is but understands the goals behind it, he can often suggest better solutions (better user experience and/or less work), the designer might even not think about, because he doesn’t know whats possible.
Nice to see that 24ways ist back! The new design is not only unique, but also very inspiring in regard of whats possible with CSS and HTML. Thanks a lot for that!
