Great article, Chris! User experience is such a vast topic with such minute details. I could literally spend weeks tweaking a single page to ‘feel’ perfect. That raises a great question… when do you consider your work finished as a user experience designer/dev? Each time I finish up a little detail, I think of 10 more that I should implement.
Another topic that I would love to have covered is the proper use of animations. They are easy to overuse, but quite effective in establishing the feeling of a smooth, responsive experience. For example, the iCloud site’s loading gif is followed by a subtle fade in, drop downs, and slide ins – but they are all very tasteful. Perhaps you could scour the web for a few beautiful examples and share :)
