I wanted functionality like this, but I wanted to be able to use PHP to actually display different content on the initial page load, so I hacked together Simple RESS (inspired by Lukew’s article imagining RESS).
It doesn’t benefit from the delayed page load, but it might be something to pair together with this technique to responsively adjust content.
