The biggest cause for argument here in the comments seems to be budget. Some of you are considering budget as part of the equation and some aren’t.
With little to no budget for a mobile site, of course using CSS Media Queries to make the site a little friendlier for mobile users is a good idea. But if the client has budgeted appropriately for a separate mobile experience, then I have to agree with @Sarah and @Aral that CSS Media Queries are probably not going to cut it.
The article has some excellent tips about web development on the iPhone, so thanks to @Sarah for that. However, I have to agree with @Jeremy and @Simon that there is definitely some questionable bits (redirecting with JS and the display:none comment).
