Phil: A very important difference between XHTML 1.0 Strict and XHTML 1.1 is that XHTML 1.1 should not be served as “text/html”, while HTML compatible XHTML 1.0 may be. That pretty much rules out XHTML 1.1 until the vast majority of browsers (hrm, Internet Explorer) support the “application/xhtml+xml” media type.
