you know, I’m all for this. Standards would be great. Fabulous even.
But in the real world: nobody cares, nobody adheres, and yet the world turns.
I’ve got 3 browsers on my system: none pass the Acid2 test. All render essential elements slightly differently, or not at all. Yet in the real world all work (more or less).
I fear we missed the chance to set these standards in stone during the ‘wild west’ years of the net and unless we move to a whole nother system we’ll be stuck with broken/half-implemented standards for the unforseeable future.
