We found a drawback with static maps and mobile devices. We seemed to hit the quota, which according to the docs would be nearly impossible for a user to do! It seems the mobile service provider proxies your internet.
Also no https support – but then the only paid for google maps have dynamic https support, so no huge surprise there!
