I’ve been designing like this for a couple of years at least – when I realised I didn’t use photoshop enough to be good at it (except for diving into tutorials when needed: how to blend images, create web 2 buttons (thanks google!)).
It doesn’t over-hype expectations with the client, and also means you can have the website built in one go (assuming you are able to sensibly interpret the client brief).
