Interesting that there’s so much focus on Photoshop as I swapped it out for Illustrator for mockup ages and ages ago. Among other things, Illustrator actually deals semi-rationally with text, and being much more object based makes it a lot easier to deal with moving bits about on the layout, adding and hiding layers and parts of layers.
Anyone frustrated with Photoshop that doesn’t feel comfortable going all the way to markup (as I usually do now) should consider Illustrator a reasonable intermediate.
