This isn’t meant as a contradiction, but I’m finding http://www.modernizr.com/ to be extremely helpful. I’m sure you’re familiar with the project, but for those who aren’t, Modernizr provides an extremely useful (and simple) alternative to standard (user agent) sniffing.
